The Office of Testing Services at Atlanta Metropolitan State College (AMSC) is located on the 2nd floor of the Academic Building 500 (Room 217). The COMPASS Exam, standardized testing (SAT, ACT, LSAT,MPRE, CLEP & TEAS) and online proctoring are administered by the Testing Department. You are welcome to contact us with your questions or concerns by calling (404)-756-4783.
To take any test, you must bring a photo ID and arrive at least 30 minutes early prior to taking your exam.
The Office of Testing Services at AMSC provides the following services:
COMPASS is the college placement test. The Office of Testing Services is located in the Academic Building 500 (Room 217). COMPASS is a computer-adaptive college placement test. The three-part Exam (Math, Reading, and Writing) generally takes a minimum of two and a half hours to complete; however, any one part of the Exam may take up to 90 minutes. You must contact the Office of Testing Services to schedule a time to take the COMPASS Exam.
Beginning July 1, 2011, all students are required to pay a $20 fee for the COMPASS Exam before taking the Exam.
Your performance on this Exam will determine your ability or inability to take college level courses.
The passing scores on the COMPASS Exam are:
- English- 60
You may retest if you are within a 5 point range of the passing score. Retesting is permitted only once and only within two weeks of the original Exam. An additional $20 fee is required for the retest.

If online instructors wish to have their exams proctored, instructors will need to contact the Testing Department. The Testing Department will need to be notified at least 14 business days in advance and be provided with specific instructions prior to test administration. Click here for the Online Proctor Form
Please park in parking lot B. Parking is not
allowed in the reserved, numbered or visitor parking spaces. The Testing Department will provide you a decal.
