The Atlanta Metropolitan State College Financial Aid staff is committed to providing exceptional services in finding appropriatemeans to assist in paying for a college education. Our goal is to assist students in financing their college education and making good choices on funding. Our staff will assist you in every facet of the financial aid process and in making your education as affordable as possible.

Steps to Apply for Financial Aid:

Step 1:

  • Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid; or FAFSA, at https://studentaid.gov/
  • Under “Apply for Aid” select “Complete the FAFSA Form”
  • You will need to complete a FAFSA for 2021-2022
  • You will need to have your FSA username and password to complete the FAFSA
  • If you do not have a FSA ID, please create one at https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm
  • Once in the FAFSA, you will need to add our school code which is 012165
  • You will complete the tax portion of the 2021-2022 FAFSA using the 2019 1040-income tax return. If you don’t have your taxes available; don’t worry, the FAFSA will give you the option to download your tax data directly from the IRS.

Step 2:

  • Complete your Master Promissory Note; or MPN, at https://studentaid.gov/
  • Login using the same FSA ID and Password that you use for your FAFSA
  • Click "Complete Aid Process". You will complete a MPN for Undergraduates

Step 3:

  • Complete your Master Promissory Note; or MPN, at https://studentaid.gov/
  • Login using the same FSA ID and Password that you use for your FAFSA
  • Click "Complete Aid Process". You will complete a MPN for Undergraduates

Step 4:

  • Complete your Annual Student Loan Acknowledgment at https://studentaid.gov/
  • Once logged in, you will see “Complete the Annual Student Loan Acknowledgment” under “Popular Topics”

Step 5:

  • ***This step is for DEPENDENT students only. If your Parents were required on your FAFSA then you are a DEPENDENT student***
  • Complete the Parent Plus Loan PreApproval at https://studentaid.gov/
  • Click “Apply for Aid” and select “Apply for Parent PLUS Loan” (this can be completed by either parent)

***Please allow 7-10 business days for processing of any financial aid applications***
